Mother's Day

2. Create a pet lover's basket of grooming gifts for Mother's Day. Include brushes, combs, dog shampoo (if applicable) and nail clippers that are appropriate for the breed of cat or dog. Some animals do not mind being brushed, and both the pet and owner can enjoy the bonding time.

3. Outfit your wife's or mother's dog with a new collar and leash for Mother's Day. Choose items that match each other or are her favorite color. Be sure you know what type of leash the pet owner prefers before you buy one.

4. Personalize a new dog bed and give it to your favorite pet owner as a Mother's Day present. Companies that personalize items such as this often need several weeks' lead time, so you will need to think ahead for this kind of gift.

5. Wrap up some pet toys for Mother's Day. Choose catnip-filled toys for cats. Plastic or rawhide bones or squeaky toys are ideal for dogs.

6. Take a picture of your wife's or mother's pet and give it to her in a picture frame. If you do not have access to the animal in order to photograph it, choose a pet-themed frame, so she can add a picture later.
